One year ago...

I have been pondering the youth minister's article in the latest bulletin. He forgot to add that a year ago the Teen Angel program was running smoothly and many teens were provided with much-needed items to make their Christmas a little easier. This year, not so much...

Doesn't quite fit the narrative, though.

  1. I thought we resolved this and that everything was up and running as in the past? Please don't tell me that there is no Teen Angel Christmas this year because people can't put their differences aside long enough to take care of the teens who are deprived of the basics, like a gift to open on Christmas morning.

  4. Like I said, I talked to Marie a few weeks ago and everything is fine. Please don't stir things up. It's Christmas and in this spirit- can we please just get along.

  6. Believe me Chris, no one that
I know of on this blog intentionally "stirs things up". The utter nonsense that goes on in the current administration is so incredible that we just couldnt make this stuff up.

  7. By the way Chris; Go directly to Marie with any thing having to do with Teen Angel. This is not about people putting their differences aside; its about honesty.

  8. Yes -it's true. I did talk to Marie. There is a meeting tonight to try to figure out how to deal with a "problem". Marie wouldn't share the details but a group of people who have been involved with Teen Angel are working to resolve it. Until we find out details, if we do, let's pray for a quick resolve, whatever it is.

  9. I agree that no one is trying to stir things up. Someday everyone will realize the damage that has been done by the leadership and that we really couldn't "make up this stuff". If you've never been duped, your about to experience it first hand. Then, when he's moved on to his next mission, your so called "naysayers" will come in to pick up the pieces and begin to put it all back together.

  10. let history speak for itself. Teen Angel has been a vital part of this communities mission to serve. In the past 11 yrs it has done that. Now 222 Dodge Ave has stuck its nose in, again, and turned a viberant minsitry into a crisis. When will they ever learn that ministry is the work of the faithful serivng the faithful. The key word here is the faithful not the staff. Back off and let us serve each other without 222 Dodge Ave interference.

  11. I received an e-mail today. The Teen Angel program is in desperate need of people to sponsor a teen. There are about 90 teens who do not have sponsors. The article was not in the bulletin this year but you can call Grace Rosettie or Joanne Methven or Marie McCaig to get a name. This was the problem, they need help with sponsors.

  12. What would be the reason that this wasn't in the bulletin? It is incomprehensible to me how unchristianlike certain people are treated.

  13. Conveniently forgotten to be published in the bulletin.

  14. It was an unfortunate oversight, not intentional.

  15. Yeah, just one of a series of 'unfortunate' events...

  16. Usually the people that are in charge of a program are the ones to put it in the bulletin, so one of the people that are listed as contacts should have made sure that it was announced in the bulletin. Has anyone contacted them to see if they put in a teen angel announcement?

  17. Grace Rosettie said that it was submitted early in the month and was supposed to run for several weeks like it always does and that it was forgotten to be put in.

  19. There are over 1000 people who look at this website daily. If just one tenth of you click on the link and ask to sponsor a teen, the Teen Angel program will have all teens covered! Just look at the comments on the Teen Angel thread - you will be truly moved. We can do this!!!!

  20. Read on Nov 30 that there was supposed to be an article in Bulletin asking for help in sponsoring a Teen Angel. Evidently when asked about it was told it had been forgotten to be put in. I just read bulletin for this weekend and still nothing. Was it again forgotten even though they were reminded about it.

There is still few weeks before Christmas so would have been plenty of time for people to pick a teen and make them a little happier at Christmas.

I was just reading that the bulletin was put together by Kathleen Warner maybe we should start calling her and find out why the article wasn't published. Shame on them.

Merry Christmas to all and hope all our prayers are answered.

  21. Jean- It is not on the website, but there is an insert about Teen Angel in the bulletin. It's a shame that this happened but I think there are some people who are still available to help, even at this late hour. This was an error that has everybody scrambling during the busiest time of the year and, unfortunately, makes a parish that is already struggling with its' image, look pretty bad when they forget about a Christmas program that helps teens.I bet it won't happen again, we'll probably see the article running in September.
