  1. Why can't we pray at St. Vincent's?

If I'm over 59 I can't go to this! This is weird, why are age limits put on this? Strangest thing I ever read. I'm sitting here trying to get a grasp on the age limitations. What do estrogen levels have to do with praying to Mary? Did I miss that lesson? If I were older, I would interpret this as no old women allowed.
Very odd, alienate one group while you try to embrace another.

  2. Why is there age specification? I find it very strange. I was just making a joke about it is all. Lighten up!

  3. Really? I hope you are not going to kvetch about the Knights of Columbus being a men's organization and the Women's Club for not having male members, or the youth group for being age-specific.

I do know this is a lovely group and a couple of active young parishioners started it, and they are building the foundation of community for a large number of ladies in our parish.

  4. I do agree with the above concern- it is necessary to exclude women because of their age? It's the Rosary!

  5. 10:23 I do not follow, is that a typo or can u explain?

  6. @Gretchen, why do you have to be so mean about someone's legitimate concern? Just wondering? I don't think the concern was a personal attack but rather an attempt to point out that older women might feel excluded for no good reason.

  7. 1:08-A typo, sorry. Should read: Is it necessary... Really, why the age criteria? Maybe my mother (older than 60), would like to bring my daughter, (16 years old), but neither would feel welcome. How wrong is that?

  8. This is not my group. If you have these issues, please contact them through the Central Office. The Rosary women's group is advertised in the bulletin in the same manner.

  9. To 8:44 and 1:15 ..... I believe the idea was to draw in a group of people who wouldn't normally be praying the rosary as a group. Why are you attacking Gretchen when it was not she who organized the rosary group? As suggested, I would call the central office with your beef. Why are you being so contentious? Older women do not feel excluded, they can be a part of it if they so choose. I think your attack on Gretchen should be followed by an apology as name calling is not necessary on the blog.

  10. As I understand it this is not just a rosary but a social time after. There are more than one opportunities to say the rosary and lets not deny women a chance to get together to form relationships. If someone has a need for a wider sampling of people they could start their own group and if that happened I would hope that they were not criticized for doing it.

  12. 3:27 Just a thought, some of the women who "qualify" for this group now, will be "ineligible" in a few years! Seriously, we have so much to learn from the elderly, why not include these women of wisdom? One day, hopefully, we will be one of them. The parish is already drowning in division, there is no need to cause more.

  13. Here is the information for who supervises this group. Please take it up with him:

  14. Deacon Dean Condon= Divide and Conquer.

    Some things remain the same.

  15. No more comments on this thread, please. I don't believe Deacon Dean is dividing the parish through this rosary and coffee group. There are numerous groups in our parish that seek relationships through a common thread of our diverse humanity in interests, life walk, and so on. There is nothing wrong with that. To say otherwise is divisive. It stops now. Any more comments will be deleted.
