The church budget

This is from the bulletin of another church in our Diocese. Interesting to see how others are handling financial transparency on a weekly basis.

  1. Not just interesting. That's the way it otta be. No if, ands, or buts about it. What could possibly be a good reason not to?

  2. Agree with Bill. Every penny should be accounted for on a weekly basis. If there is a bequest and it is added to the collection, we have a right to know this. If money is being taken from restricted accounts to pay parish bills, we have a right to know this. If money is being taken from mass stipends or other areas to give the appearance of increased collections, we better be informed. I mention these specific practices because I know for a fact that they occur in our parish. What is the criteria for being on the finance council? How much longer before we can expect a change in this leadership? We need integrity in our finances. Not just when we are looking, but at all times.
