Now is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It won’t last forever. We must take it or leave it. – C.S. Lewis

The church budget
This is from the bulletin of another church in our Diocese. Interesting to see how others are handling financial transparency on a weekly basis.
Agree with Bill. Every penny should be accounted for on a weekly basis. If there is a bequest and it is added to the collection, we have a right to know this. If money is being taken from restricted accounts to pay parish bills, we have a right to know this. If money is being taken from mass stipends or other areas to give the appearance of increased collections, we better be informed. I mention these specific practices because I know for a fact that they occur in our parish. What is the criteria for being on the finance council? How much longer before we can expect a change in this leadership? We need integrity in our finances. Not just when we are looking, but at all times.
Not just interesting. That's the way it otta be. No if, ands, or buts about it. What could possibly be a good reason not to?
