    "In the 1870s, the German people of St. Ann–most of them poor–made an act of faith to build something splendid for God and for Buffalo.

    In 2013 dollars, their project would have cost millions."

    And please, that does not mean making a parish mission statement.

    The Hebrew word refers to a divine revelation, a prophetic vision that is made plain through visible means. When the people lack that vision, they are headed for destruction.

    Very interesting that the dollar numbers are still so similar after more than a century.
