Looking to a new year

Coming in September...

While a good number of the faithful have been driven from our parish, all can take comfort in the catholic, the universal nature of the Faith. It is worldwide, it springs from an endless and eternal Source, and it is unstoppable. (H/T:  Cleansing Fire.)

  1. Have been gone for awhile but I am back. Thanks Gretchen for sharing this. It is a indeed a reminder that even though we are, as some say, fighting for our little church in the corner, we ARE part of something bigger (and I don't mean ASP). May God continue to guide us and give us wisdom, humility, and more important Faith. This is for HIM.

  3. Here is a hopeful story about a church outside Syracuse whose closure appeal is being heard by the Vatican: http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2010/12/post_340.html. Interesting circumstances.

  5. Agree Very Interesting. But then again very sad that a Diocese cannot recognize the determination & passion of the parishless. A forward thinking leader, which should be the bishop, would see this as an opportunity and somehow harness all that energy & resources to improve the current church. Instead they continue this almost forced attrition of our great Catholic church, at least in NYS anyway.

In addition from a basic business perspective or even simple common sense, I do not understand the selling of Catholic church properties in the middle of a recession initiated by the bursting of the real estate bubble. Just reminds me of the retort of TV character Debra Barrone, "Idiots."

  6. I think there is an ideological aspect to much of this.
