Matter matters

That's the title of a new article over at SavingOurParish. It is an excellent reminder of what sets Catholics apart from the world. Here's a snippet:

Jesus is the Word and the Word became flesh. God becomes Man, thus showing us in the Incarnation both Form and Matter. This is the essence of our Sacramental life, and it is beautiful.

  1. Wonderful and enlightening! We are so blessed through the Blessed Sacrament. If we spent half as much time sitting before the tabernacle as we spend venting about our concerns, I am certain that our good Lord would take care of things! Something to pray about.

  2. Yes, and wouldn't it be wonderful if we could spend more time in Adoration in our parish. Something more to pray about.

  3. Adoration opportunities in the parish have always been poorly attended. Until parishioners are inspired from the pulpit to believe that sitting before our Lord is a REAL experience, people tend to be satisfied with their once-a-week encounter at mass. We, collectively, have failed as well. I believe in the true presence- would lay down my life on this truth. And yet, many times am guilty of neglecting our Lord in the tabernacle. He resides there all day and all night and most of us drive by the churches and can't even blow a kiss, tip a hat or wave a hand. We all need to do better but it needs to begin at the pulpit with heartfelt reminders of the person hidden in the bread.

  4. I have witnessed a lack of reverence at mass. I personally have a problem with the choir and bands on the altar area. This "concert" environment is a distraction to the tabernacle and to the sacrifice of the mass. The Sunday night teen mass is the worst example- the band needs to move up into the choir loft.

  5. Right on about the teen mass. If I want my kids to attend a concert, I will buy them tickets to Tags! The rock 'n roll mass isn't working. They sit there and text during the entire mass. They have no reverance and nobody should be surprised.
