Saving Our Parish has received a heartfelt message from a visitor. We have permission to share it:
To all those that have contributed in creating this website,
Thank you for using your time, energy and talents in creating this web page for parishioners to turn to in this time of disappointment and confusion in their Catholic Community. As Alene's daughter, I just wanted to let you know how much your support means to her and to our family and that others have taken their time to take this on. Taking action is the only thing we can do at this point and you have provided easy, convenient ways for people to do just that! I cannot thank you enough for being behind my mom, it is a large part of the peace that she does have in her heart right now!
Best of luck in your efforts to create awareness and hopefully results!

Kaleen- Wish we could do more for her. She is the face of the church to my children and many more. She is in the prayers of many as she awaits her next "calling". God will continue to use her, wait and see. This injustice will not thwart the plans he has for her!
ReplyDeleteHow true. What a sad time for the parish. Worse than sad- devastating.
ReplyDeleteWe will be heard one way or another!!!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd I thought it was a financial decision.
ReplyDeleteOur High Priest is Jesus Christ...ultimately He's the one we must follow...and answer to.
Folks, I had to remove another comment. Personal attacks are verboten.
ReplyDeleteKaleen,
ReplyDeleteYour mother is one of a kind and a good friend. The course of events leading to her dismissal does not surprise me at all considering all of the other events that have taken place which most of the parish don't have a clue about. She will come out on top in the end because she has class. Love her to death...
just found your website and blog - will keep you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Ben. Many thanks for the prayers.

ReplyDeleteSounds pretty protestant to me. :-) (Yes, the idea of the priesthood is very Catholic, but the High Priest has left us with a real visible church that has authority, and to which we must also answer to.)
Sorry... got to play the "devils" advocate. All in good fun. Please do not rally to hard on me.
Um, since the Scriptures were put together and canonized by Catholics, one can assume that when the Scriptures (specifically in the Book of Hebrews) refers to Jesus Christ as our high priest, that it was a Catholic thing--not a Protestant thing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the priesthood was a Jewish thing, which the Christians continued and fulfilled.
Yeah, Jesus did leave us with the visible church. But he didn't say we had to follow its leaders when they are harming others and themselves. Are you saying we should just let wrong behavior continue--pedophile priests for instance?
